It wasn’t until I became part of the medical school interview process and had the chance to become an interviewer that I realized how so many of the applicants sounded the same. Everyone  wanted to help people and everyone loved the sciences. I found that pretty funny because I was probably no different.

Is it just me, or can things get awkward pretty quickly in the ultrasound rooms?

I see abdominal radiographs looking for foreign bodies pretty often. Usually the exam is done to look for missing surgical instrument or needle after a surgery. Sometimes the study is done to look for a rectal foreign body. I’ve seen a whole array of “toys,” devices, and even a jar of jam in the rectum.…
